Unlike Frieza, Cooler doesn't initially show many signs of sadism though he is merciless. While he thinks nothing of killing innocents, he will intercede to save his troops when they are overmatched and even listens to their advice occasionally. He also likes to test himself against strong opponents, disdaining his brother for his pride in destroying Planet Vegeta. When he takes on his final form he becomes even more powerful, but loses some of his self control and becomes over confident, leading to his downfall.
